Charity and Education
A career in the charity sector offers a fulfilling opportunity to make a difference in communities and advocate for important causes. To embark on this path, start by pursuing A-levels in subjects like A-level Sociology, Politics, or Business Studies, which provide a strong foundation in understanding social issues and organizational management.
There are a number of extracurricular activities offered within our Sixth Form, including our Green Club, peer mentoring, guided reading, CAFOD Young Leaders and there will be one hour set aside in the summer term of Year 12 for volunteering. These opportunities allow you to demonstrate your leadership abilities and commitment to social causes.
Stay informed about current issues affecting the charity sector by following industry news and reports. This knowledge will be crucial for interviews and discussions.
When applying to universities, focus on programmes that offer courses in International Development, Social Work, or Nonprofit Management. At university, networking with professionals and attending charity events can also provide guidance and open doors as you pursue a career in this impactful field.
