A level and BTEC success

Students at St Thomas More Sixth Form celebrate another outstanding year of results and secure places at top UK universities

St Thomas More Catholic School is delighted to share the outstanding results achieved by our A Level and BTEC students. The school, which is renowned for its commitment to academic excellence, is thrilled to announce another year of exceptional A-Level and BTEC results, showcasing the dedication and hard work of both students and teachers.

Head of School, Alex Rosen, expressed his immense pride at the results and commended both students and staff for their hard work this year. “Last year was amazing. However, the students have shown their commitment to achieving the very best and have secured another set of outstanding results to surpass last year. They now have the opportunity to follow their dreams and take the next steps for their future plans.    

90% of our students have secured university places with 28% achieving a place in Russell Group universities. I would like to extend my thanks to our dedicated staff and parents who always set high standards and have provided our young people with every opportunity to fulfil their potential. We would like to wish everyone receiving their results today every success in whatever they choose to do next.”

Students received positive results across the board, with 26% achieving A*-A, 61 % A*-B and 79% A*-C including Distinction/Distinction* at BTEC.  Some of our standout achievements include:

Divine Omolade - 1A* 1A and 1B secured a place to study Experimental Psychology at Oxford University;

Gabriela Timoszuk - 3A* - secured a place to study Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Imperial College;

Andrew Knight - 3As - to study Geography at Durham University;

Tania Chanda - 1A* 1A 1B - to study Geography at London School of Economics;

Yazmin Zorba - 2A* and 1B - to study English Literature at Bristol University;

Scarlett Sharp - 1A* and 2A - To study Molecular Genetics at Kings College;

Kevin Croospulle - 2A* and 1A - to study Economics at Bristol University;

Elia Caravati-Pringle - 1A* and 2As - to study Mechanical engineering at Bristol University.

Year 12 students have also performed extremely well and are well placed to produce excellent A-level results in the summer of 2024.

Head of Sixth Form, Dean Saunders, was extremely proud of all the results “Our sixth form is going from strength to strength and our results are comparable with some of the best institutions across the country. Not only have we enabled these young adults to achieve, but we have also prepared them for the wider world”

Head of Year 13, Simon Ruggiero, was delighted with the spectacular results: “Our students have demonstrated remarkable resilience over the last two years and I and the sixth form team are enormously proud of our exceptional results. Well done to everyone!”

Executive Headteacher and CEO of the Cardinal Hume Academies Trust, Martin Tissot, stated: “The achievements of our students have come as a direct result and reward of their continuous efforts, dedication and grit. I am overwhelmingly proud of all students and would like to thank our committed staff, who have gone above and beyond in providing students with excellent teaching, support and subject knowledge. We are thrilled to see so many of our students progressing into higher education and we wish all St Thomas More students, both past and present every success in the future”.
