Outstanding Progress & Attainment GCSEs 2025

Outstanding Progress and attainment at St Thomas More Catholic School
Wood Green, London N22:
We are proud to announce that St Thomas More Catholic School continues to excel, building upon last year’s Outstanding Ofsted inspection. This exceptional performance secures St Thomas More’s position in the top 10% of schools in the country.
Our pupils have achieved extraordinary results in this year’s GCSE and BTEC examinations, demonstrating remarkable progress and achievement that places the school significantly above the national average.  Notably, overall progress (progress 8 measure) has risen to 0.89 (as verified by ALPS), meaning that, on average, every pupil attained nearly a full grade higher than their expected outcome.
Head of School, Mr Rosen, commented: “This year, our attainment figures have been outstanding. We are immensely proud of our intervention and mastery programmes, which have driven a 15% increase in the highest grade possible, Grade 9 and a 10% rise in the proportion of students achieving strong passes in both English and Maths. Additionally, the average GCSE grade across the school has improved by a full grade compared to previous years. These achievements reflect our commitment to ensuring our pupils are thoroughly prepared for the next stage of their education. My heartfelt gratitude goes to our dedicated staff and supportive families. Their unwavering commitment has been instrumental in helping our young people succeed at this pivotal stage of their educational journey.”
