Easter Service 2024

Holy Week (Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, & Easter Sunday)

"Holy Week is a string of eight days that allow Christians an opportunity to reflect upon the shift in humanity Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross launched. It starts with Palm Sunday when Jesus enters the city of Jerusalem. The week leads through the Last Supper, His crucifixion, and ends on Easter Sunday with His resurrection. This is the basis of Christianity, His sacrifice launched the New Covenant God promised and many had prophesied throughout the Old Testament. Each day of Holy Week allows Christians to peek into the heart of their Saviour at intently close proximity. His love for people is reflected in every significant step toward the cross, every breath up to the last, and His resurrection.

Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday and ends with Easter Sunday. During this one week, many biblical prophesies were fulfilled. Jesus came to earth to save humanity by dying on the cross on Good Friday and resurrecting on Easter Sunday. By enduring and defeating death sacrificially for people, He swung open the gates of heaven making a way for sins to be forgiven and usher Christians into the presence of God (Romans 5:8)."

Easter gives us Hope for the Future

As Catholics/Christians celebrate Easter, they do so with a sense of hope and anticipation and waiting for the future. The resurrection of Jesus Christ represents the promise of new life, new birth – not only in the hereafter but also in the present. It reminds believers that no matter what trials they may face, there is always the hope of redemption and renewal through faith in Jesus Christ.

As believers reflect on the significance of Easter, may you be inspired to deepen your faith and live out the transformative message of Jesus Christ in your daily lives.

Easter Service

On Wednesday 27^th March we had an Easter service which included a moving and reflective play by the drama department, which portrayed the life of Jesus up to the time of his Crucifixion. The Easter service featured our school choir coupled with some stunning solos. There were various readings from the students. The service ended with a reflection and prayer.

Senior Citizens Party

What an amazing Senior Citizen's party we had on Thursday 12^th December. Our Glendale Hall was festooned with a wonderful array of Christmas decorations which had been lovingly put up by our enthusiastic students from all key stages. The sandwiches, quiches, chicken goujons, sausage rolls, pastries and millionaire shortbread were waiting to be enjoyed. Our school choir and sixth form choir entertained our 80 guests and this was then followed by "a Christmas Carol" drama performance and a bingo session. The afternoon finished with a rousing rendition of some our popular Christmas carols by guests and staff alike. Many of our students enjoyed serving our guests and spending time getting to know them and there was a real sense of Christmas in the air. Everyone left the hall smiling , carrying with them a little Christmas Cheer. Another resounding success!

The Lent challenge for 2024

For 2024 CAFOD are focusing on climate change action around the world and how the bible teaches us about God's world, as well as our place in it, from the past, the present and the future.

Some of our Year 12 students and teachers took up the challenge to participate in the 1km Lenten walk, and raised funds that goes towards this cause. We collected nearly £200..00 to go towards the Lenten walk.

CAFOD Young Leaders 2024

Each year some of our students join the CAFOD Young Leaders programme. Our 2024 students have now completed their programme and received their certificates and badges last Friday at St George's Cathedral.

These 6 students will continue to take action for global justice through fundraising, campaigning and raising awareness.

Congratulations to all of them for their completion of the programme and for their continued hard work in our Catholic School!
